Getting Started with Digital Painting in Photoshop CC 2014

by Alex Hernandez

In this Photoshop tutorial, we'll be working to create a digital painting. Software required: Photoshop CC 2014.

What you'll learn

In this Photoshop tutorial, we'll be working to create a digital painting. We'll start by referencing a model and creating a loose sketch based on the pose. Next, we'll add embellishments like gear and hair and fine tune our sketch. Next, we'll work on blocking in colors for our skin and gear. We'll make sure we account for shadows and highlights while we work to blend the skin and create details like the nose and hands. We'll also spend some time adjusting our brush presets to create textures and effects for our painting like trees for our environment. This course will take you from beginning to end for this digital painting project and we'll go over some great techniques for creating a variety of different surfaces and objects. By the end of this Photoshop training, you'll have a better understanding for how to tackle a digital painting and how to create and adjust brushes to get the effect you want. Software required: Photoshop CC 2014.
